Synopsis:

In this Personal Finance Series with Providend: Achieving Financial Wellness with Money Wisdom, the course introduces the core areas of interest that busy working professionals should consider for their personal finances.

As a brief overview, Part 3 of the series will cover the following: 

1) Mitigating Risk - The Fundamental Purpose of Insurance in our Wealth Plan

Covid-19 has generally led many to become more aware of protecting themselves and their loved ones from unfortunate events so that their goals can still be realised. It is an observable trend that more have been seeking insurance solutions but with a mind-boggling array of financial products out there, how do you know which is the most suitable for you and your family? We will share with you tips to choose the right insurance to ensure sufficient coverage and still leave enough money for you to plan towards other areas of needs such as retirement and funding your children’s tertiary education.

2) Investing Amidst Market Volatility

With lots of uncertainty surrounding today’s economy, many are reviewing their investment portfolios and strategy. We will give an overview of how the various investment options work and key considerations so you can make an informed decision on which to implement for your own investment journey.

Ray Zheng

Ray graduated from NUS Economics in 2008. While in NUS, he also studied History and Business and became very interested in knowing how the world works through politics and wealth. Prior to joining Providend, he was the general manager of his family business which was in the retail and consumer goods sector for over 11 years. During his time there, he successfully established a B2B distribution channel and expanded the company to move beyond the traditional brick and mortar model to include ecommerce. However, the lack of a sense of purpose in the work drove him to reconsider the future of his career path. He started looking for a role where his values are better aligned with and would still be able to apply his knowledge to add value to others.While researching for a better way to plan the finances for his own family, he learnt about Providend and felt very inspired by the work that they do. Shortly after, he made the decision to join Providend’s associate adviser program in 2021 where he first trained under experienced client advisers to learn the ropes. As a Client Adviser now, Ray has been working with clients to help them be more intentional towards the choices they can make towards their life goals.

Tan Chin Yu

Prior to being part of the Providend family, Chin Yu worked at Singapore Airlines (SIA) in various commercial roles, including 5 years overseas which is a typical career progression to becoming an overseas General Manager. Having made the decision to do a career switch to join Providend in 2019, Chin Yu has been helping his clients find the balance in managing the tradeoffs they must make between today’s quality of life and what will position them for a healthy quality of life in the future. He engages his clients in a rich dialogue consistently to help them uncover what matters most to them while providing clarity and ongoing support that is needed in their lifelong journey.Chin Yu also actively contributes his professional insights on various wealth-related topics in interviews with media channels such as CNA MoneyMind and Lianhe Zaobao.
