Synopsis:

This Investments series consists of the 3 main topics below:


1. Introduction to Personal Investing

This topic comprises 2 parts:

  • Part 1 - covers the key concepts and considerations one should take note of prior to investing. You will also understand the importance of risk vs reward trade-off and common investment strategies useful to adopt over time.
  • Part 2 - covers the steps required to start investing and highlights some common financial products, their associated features, benefits and risks one should be aware of. The video also shows you how to construct an investments portfolio based on your financial needs and risk appetite and the importance of regular review.

This topic is suitable for those who are keen to begin investing and want to be well-equipped with what are key considerations as well as the practical steps to begin their investment journey.

 

2. Understanding Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs)

This topic consists of 2 parts:

  • Part 1 - focuses on what ETFs are and the common ones available to the public.
  • Part 2 - provides a basic understanding on how ETFs are structured, the risks of different types of ETFs and how they may form part of one’s investment portfolio.

This topic is suitable for those who want to learn more about ETFs, how choosing the right ETF helps in diversifying one’s portfolio and achieving one’s investment objectives. 

 

3. Understanding Bonds

This topic consists of 2 parts:

  • Part 1 – viewer will learn about basic bond features, types of bonds such as Singapore Government Securities, Singapore Savings Bonds, Corporate Bonds and Bond Funds, and credit ratings. 
  • Part 2 – viewer will hear more about considerations when investing in bonds, determinants of bond price volatility, the relationship between bond prices, interest rates and yields as well as how to read related documents.

This topic is suitable for those who want to learn more about bonds and basics about investing in bonds as part of one’s overall investing journey.
