Course Description

Synopsis:

Following the release of ISSB's S1 and S2 and IAASB's Exposure Draft on sustainability assurance, this IFAC Sustainability Virtual Summit held on 27-28 September 2023 was tailor-made to raise awareness and fuel dynamic conversations about the surging demand for assurance engagements and the evolution of sustainability reporting. The lineup of speakers would delve into the impact of ISSB's S1 and S2 and IAASB's Exposure Draft on sustainability assurance.

Day 1 of the summit focused on the arrival of ISSB’s S1 and S2, with a presentation on the standards and a panel discussion on best practices by regional stakeholders on establishing mechanisms for sustainability disclosures (Boards, working groups, standard-setting) and best practices in establishing roadmaps to adopt the standards.

Day 2 focused on raising awareness of the IAASB’s new sustainability assurance standard, ISSA 5000, released as an Exposure Draft on 2 August 2023. The session also allowed participants to hear presentations from the IAASB and IFAC, and preliminary, high-level stakeholder views, addressing both policy/advocacy and technical discussions.

Listen to the Day 2 summit in this module! Day 1 of the summit is available on the IFAC Sustainability Virtual Summit - Asia Pacific (Part 1).
