Course Description

Synopsis:

This module presents the highlights of the ISCA Mini Conference Series on "Embracing New Opportunities in the Changing Climate".

Amidst the global momentum in the sustainability agenda, the widespread attention on the climate change imperative should no longer come as a surprise to anyone. From changes in global standard setting, national laws and regulations to stakeholder expectations, numerous recent developments underscore the relevance of climate change to businesses as well as livelihoods. One key development of note to accountants is the announcement by the IFRS Foundation Trustees at COP26 for the establishment of the International Sustainability Standards Board.

Yet, questions on how companies can embark on their own climate action journey and contribute to larger collective efforts to combat climate change linger. To answer these questions, the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) offer a possible structured framework to begin piecing together a roadmap to address and report on climate action. ISCA’s climate-related disclosure guide will also be useful in helping companies with their climate reporting.

This conference brings to you open and honest conversations on the challenges in addressing climate-related issues and how to tackle them. Through the conference, we hope delegates will appreciate that these issues need not be as intimidating as they appear to be and climate action can open up new opportunities. We will also introduce ISCA’s climate-related disclosure guide to help delegates kickstart the process.
