Laurent Lequeu

Founder, The Macro Butler; Committee Member, The Better Foundation

About

Laurent Lequeu is an investment professional with extensive experience managing portfolios across major global asset classes, including fixed income, equities, commodities, and currencies. He began his career in Luxembourg, where he worked as a buy-side analyst, investment advisor, and portfolio manager, developing expertise in multi-asset allocation, macroeconomic analysis, and client advisory. His early work with European private clients and institutional investors provided a strong foundation in discretionary portfolio construction and risk management.

In 2012, Laurent relocated to Singapore, deepening his exposure to Asian financial markets and expanding his advisory practice to serve both high-net-worth individuals and institutional investors across the region. Over the following decade, he held senior portfolio-management responsibilities and eventually became Head of Portfolio Management at one of Singapore’s largest multi-family offices. In this role, he was responsible for designing and overseeing global investment strategies, leading asset- allocation frameworks, and advising ultra-high-net-worth families on long-term capital preservation and growth.

In 2023, Laurent transitioned to independent practice as a Financial Consultant, offering bespoke advisory services while maintaining a strong focus on macroeconomic research. That same year, he launched The Macro Butler newsletter on Substack, where he writes about macro trends, market dynamics, and portfolio strategy for a global audience of investors, executives, and finance professionals.

Laurent holds a Master of Science in Business Engineering from the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management, as well as a Fintech Certificate from MIT. He is fluent in French and English, with working knowledge of Portuguese and Spanish, enabling him to engage with a diverse international clientele.
